The Grand English Anthem at St Mary’s Woodbridge

Canticum returns to Woodbridge for a celebration of the English choral anthem in the splendour of this fine Victorian church. The programme offers a selection of well-loved anthems including Parry’s Blest Pair of Sirens, Stanford’s For Lo, I Raise Up and Wesley’s Ascribe unto the Lord.  

The programme also features music by the contemporary English composer Christopher Wright. Canticum recorded a début CD of Christopher’s choral works last year. Several of these were sung for the first time in the recording sessions, and the concert will include premiere performances as we officially launch the CD.
