Antiphon
Canticum returns to the Orthodox splendor of St. Sophia’s in Bayswater for a programme of Latin antiphon settings, moving from the Middle Ages with Hildegard of Bingen and Pérotin to the great Renaissance masters Tallis, Palestrina, Lassus, Byrd, Victoria and Lobo. The concert concludes with a contemporary work, Keith Roberts’ monumental Veni, the seven Great O Antiphons sung in the run-up to Christmas and recorded by the choir in 2003.
